FANCY A GAME OF TIC-TAC-TOE

Sometimes you come across a piece that doesn't really need much doing to it, just a lil something here and there. This is one such piece, I think we have made a very standard piece into something special.

This is what we started with...

and this is how it turned out

It's a great  piece with lots of storage space and best of all it's on wheels.

DIY

When Idonette over at D'vine Living posted her "Jump on! Join the Ride" post last week. I decided to do a piece we have been commissioned to do for it. Yes, i know mixing business with pleasure..... But things are just hectic at the moment. So here goes, the brief was to create a old worn ( think old antique French Chateau furniture, with layers of paint on, you get the idea)

Honestly we don't have much experience in said look, but did some research and got busy, very busy. ( who would think trying to 'age' a piece could be such hard work)

Guess what..... I can't find the before pic with the drawers in, so this one will have to do. ;0)

 Remove all the handles first.

Get busy distressing the piece, as well as giving it a light sand. What fun we had 'destroying' it.

Even Sooty got involved.

Mix the desired paint color with some Scumble Glaze

and a spray here and there of copper paint.

We wanted a bit of blue in so just squeezed a little in to the paint mixture.

We getting there...

How awesome is my paint coat lol!

Add some Raw Umber in the cracks etc

We still need to put the handles back on, and do a few touches here and there. But I think you can get a pretty good idea of what it's going to look like. The true color is actually a bit more greeny.

So what do you think? Does it look old?
